INTERPRETING CITY MADE ABSTRACT MARKS

  • Francesco Salom
This projects is made up of 10 photographs I have shot around London. While walking by chance I get attracted by those abstract forms and compositions and I take a photograph of it. To me those forms represent the language the trace of the city, it’s Identity.
When I see them I enjoy interpreting them and giving them my own interpretation.I feel that by taking pictures of those forms and reinterpreting them I give them a new life and Identity and highlight their existence and beauty to viewer. I find fascinating the fact that those things when seen in their original environment are thought of as ugly, rubbish, something which needs to fixed, covered or thrown away. In a way they are the fossils, the true identity of our society. Their are part of our history and therefore I see them as historical artefact which deserve to be recorded through photography, but not taken away. I hope that through this project I will open and bring to your attention this new and fascinating aspect of the cities in which we live in and within.
