Let’s face it: Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup range is heroic.
Known as one of the most in-demand makeup artists, with an impressive client list including the likes of Kate Moss, Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne, the beauty guru has opened a spanking new store in London’s Westfield shopping centre in White City.
Her second stand-alone boutique is everything beauty fans would expect and is aptly located in the retail destination’s luxury quarter, The Village. From the glistening chandeliers to the Art Deco-style vanity tables, every inch of the store is dazzling.
Customers can get a virtual makeover using the touch-screen Magic Mirror, which is the first of its kind and morphs your face to one of Tilbury’s signature makeup looks – including the popular Goddess Glow and Dolce Vita. Bye-bye, Snapchat filters.
With so many incredible formulas in her extravagant cosmetics range, it’s only fitting that CT has a makeup bag filled to the brim with her own brand of products.
Here, she takes us through the beauty staples she can’t live without and provides some useful tips for the party season.
What are the must-haves in your own makeup bag?
My go-to essentials include the Legendary Brows Gel, as you can apply this in just a few strokes to make your brows pop, the Wonderglow primer for a brighter complexion, Mini Miracle Eye Wand to disguise tired eyes and the Beach Stick Bronzer for a Victoria Secret-esque glow.
A miniature version of my Magic Cream is extremely important for when my skin needs a lift on the go, and I can’t go anywhere without the Dolce Vita eyeshadow pallete, Lip Cheat lip liner in Pillowtalk, Matte Revolution lipstick in Birkin Brown and K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Penelope Pink.
Can you recommend any skin saviours for the festive party season?
I highly recommend investing in the Magic Cream, which I created with patented ingredients that work straight away to bring plumpness to dull skin lacking vibrancy, and then there’s the Magic Eye Rescue Cream with Winter Daphne Stem Cell Extract to instantly lift the eyes.
These formulas came about after my A-list clients practically begged to know what was in my ‘secret cream’ for amazing skin. It really does transform your complexion and gives it that youthful, plumped-up look.
A Giant version of the Magic Cream is a new addition to my skincare range and is equivalent to three standard-sized pots.
What’s your favourite party look?
My Vintage Vamp or Rock Chick signature look is perfect for wearing with a dazzling dress. The dark lip looks amazing in winter and sultry eyes work well for any evening look.
What products would you recommend for a commuter-friendly makeup routine?
My Instant Look in a Palette, which is currently sold out everywhere but will be back in stock in December. You can use this for both daytime and evening looks and it has 7 numbered steps for the face and eyes, so it’s easy for anyone to use.
The Beach Stick is perfect for those who need something they quickly can apply without a brush and offers plenty of colour.
If you struggle with eye makeup on the tube, then the Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow can be practically drawn on to the eyes in a flash and has incredible staying power.
Are there any beauty mistakes we should be avoiding?
Wearing the wrong foundation colour. When you buy my Magic Foundation online, there are photos of women of various skin tones to help you match the perfect shade to your face. This is an important part of my brand as I want to make choosing the right products easy for every woman.
I often see contouring done badly. This can be avoided with the right formulas and brushes.
Do you have any favourites from your current collection?
My Dreamy Look in a Clutch makeup kit is a lovely gift for women of all ages. It comes with the Legendary Muse eyeshadow pallete and a lipstick-shaped USB with my tutorial of the look.
I spent ages searching for the right elements for my Scent of a Dream perfume. I wanted this to be a scent that draws people in and works with your own natural essence. It’s a powerful and sexy smell that everyone will remember. I chose Kate Moss as the face of the scent as she represents the impact it has on people. When she walks into a room she can instantly change its frequency.
