Launched in April 2011, the IPA online Media Owner Awards (MOA)are designed to showcase best practice in levels of service that online media owners provide to agencies, with the aim of raising the digital standard in general.
The MOA will reward four key attributes from the IPA’s bi-annual online Media Owner Survey, these will cover 'Best' (based on the current year's combined Spring and Autumn survey results) and 'Most Improved' (based on year-on-year survey results) in questions about Innovation; Cross-Media exploitation; Partnership and Overall service.
A further eight submission-based categories have also been devised including: Best Commercial Director, Sales Newcomer, Unsung Hero, Best Technology and Unfeatured Media Owner, as well as Best Online Campaign, Best Cross-Media Campaign, and Rising Star. These submission-based awards are open for entry till 6th June, and will be judged by a panel including of participants from the IPA Digital Media Group and chaired by Pete Robins, Managing Partner, Agenda21.
A shortlist for both the submission based awards and survey awards will be announced at the beginning of October. The winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony and Dinner in London late November.
Testimonials from past winners…
Neil Murphy, Senior Commercial Executive, InSkin Media, Winner Sales Newcomer 2012
‘I am delighted... I was up against some big characters, so I’m really thrilled to have won.’
Emily ffrench Blake, Account Director, Spotify, Winner Sales Newcomer 2011
“I honestly consider it to be one of the highlights of my career. It was touching to be put forward by my clients and fantastically rewarding to hear I was formally nominated. Presenting the 'me' case to the judges was a great experience: although challenging, the panel was encouraging and genuinely interested in what I had to say. And then came the award night itself - unique and informal in format and unprecedented in terms of post-announcement celebration!
My company was so thrilled and my colleagues couldn't have been happier for me. As a direct result of my win, I was asked to spend February in Australia, helping to set up the Spotify operation there. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and one which I'm so grateful for.
I'd always assumed that bagging an IPA gong would be great if you wanted to change jobs, and whilst I'm sure that's true(!), for me it's been about developing the role that I already hold and love. Doors have been opened in so many ways and continue to be, and being upheld in front of and by my peers, industry and clients has been one of my most fulfilling achievements. Get involved!”
Tim Ferris, Head of Multi-platform Partnerships, Global Radio, Winner Most Innovative Cross-Media Campaign 2011
“Winning an IPA award for "Most Innovative Cross-Media Campaign' with Sony Ericsson mobile was a high point for us in a very successful year. Having our approach to Cross-media and in particular our mobile credentials recognised and celebrated by the IPA as best in class was a great accomplishment and one that we are very proud of.”
Jane Loring, Managing Director, Glam Media, Winner Best Unfeatured Media Owner 2011
“We were thrilled to win the Best Unfeatured Media Owner award. It was fantastic for us to not only be exposed as one to watch through the Awards, but to then be judged against some of our biggest and best competitors in the Media Owner Surveys. Now having gained a place in the survey we hope to be making a re-appearance as a winner in the 2012 Awards!”
The MOA identity evokes the cryptid form of the moa; a now extinct (although occasionally spotted!) large, flightless, New Zealand bird that walked the earth for 60 million years.
