The visual research and design development of this project is based around the theme of bugs and insects, focusing mainly on iridescent colours and contrasting structural surfaces.
The dense, hard outer shell of an insect juxtaposed next to the delicate and transparent nature of their wings provides a variety of surface qualities and colour to work from. Their legs, antennae and eyes create strong geometric shapes which can be reproduced into repeat designs and woven structures.
