Japanese Poster Series

Captivated by Japanese culture and graphics, I wanted to create a poster series which explores Asian design treatments. Whilst style choices like heavy composition, contrasting colour palettes and vertical typography also feature in Western design, when blended together, the result is something that feels distinctly Japanese. This project also acted as a studying exercise of the Japanese language. I frequently visit NHK (https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/easy/), a Japanese News site geared to language students, to practice reading and comprehension and decided once I had read the articles to inject them into my designs.
