Journeymen

  • Michael Ho
An excerpt from my graduation documentary film at the National Film and Television School.

In parts of Poland, unemployment is as high as 40% and wages are very low. The UK can seem like a ‘promised land’ of opportunity, especially since 2004, when Poland joined the EU and the borders opened.

This film travels by bus from Bialystok to London to witness economic migration firsthand. We follow the fortunes of a few of the many who make the journey in search of work – from young people who have never left their country before to older men who are desperate to make a living after facing redundancy in their homeland.

In Polish and English with English subtitles.
