On the last weekend of July 2018, Kensington & Chelsea Art Weekend celebrated the rich cultural heritage and future of the borough.
Connecting more than 60 galleries, creative spaces, museums and cultural institutions, the weekend facilitated public engagement in the local culture, introducing audiences to its rich history as a leading creative hub.
Celebrating the artistic traditions and future of the borough, Kensington & Chelsea Art Weekend’s diverse programme of 70+ events including gallery and museum exhibitions, public art installations, talks and lectures, walking tours, children’s workshops, bus tours, screenings, and food pop-ups, all taking place throughout the weekend.

Selected Events
  • Art Bus – in partnership with The Galleries Association, Portobello Radio and the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, the weekend offered a free, bespoke Red Double Decker Hop On/Hop Off Art Bus Tour stopping at 16 locations across the Borogh.
  • Heroes of Kensington & Chelsea honouring local unsung heroes, nominated by the public.
  • Dynamic public art installation in Sloane Square with works by photographer Terry O’Neill, honouring the people of Kensington and Chelsea through iconic images.
  • Public Art and Children Workshop at Little Wormwood Scrubs, where the Team at Epic CIC attempt to lift up in the air an Aerocene Explorer.
  • Love Kensington & Chelsea Street Art Project celebrating the heritage of the area with murals on construction hoardings. The artist for the first mural at 122 Pavilion Road was shortlisted and voted on by the public.
  • Electric Cinema – Screening of cult film 'Sammy and Rosie Get Laid" followed by Q&A with Raindance and British Independent Film Awards founder Elliot Grove and Robin Osmani.
  • Friday Lates Art Trail
  • ‘Not Another Degree Show’, pop-up exhibition in vacant office space in South Kensington, curated by Vardaxoglou.
  • Blue Plaques Walking Tour of South Kensington & Chelsea.
  • Talk with Alistair Hicks at the Royal British Society of Sculptors
  • Design Museum bespoke building tours.
  • Open Studios
