We brought sunshine to the streets with a bespoke light-up billboard to promote Kazuo Ishiguro’s newest, luminous novel, Klara and the Sun. As The Booker Prize winner’s eighth novel, and the first since he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, it expands on the theme of what it means to be not-quite-human, exploring love and loyalty through the eyes of an android. After marking the launch with a Blackfriars takeover, we stepped-up our Old Street billboard site with a dreamy installation that paired colourful posters depicting a frame-by-frame rising of the sun with a bespoke, illuminated panel. For Faber Books, the glowing display emulated the special-edition book cover, and its transformation after dark allowed both day and night immersion. "The sun always has a way to reach us..."
