La Historiadora is an educational project dedicated to female characters In Mexican History throughout time. The purpose is to make history equal and talk about the female heroes who also made history. Throughout short animations and an outdoor campaign we break down historical events and the participation of women who made them possible. We intend to give a voice to unheard and unknown women and change the way we learn history. The graphic style of the project is based off collages portraying women who never made it to books. Those who are unidentified with photographs were also included with Mexican women of the time with a stripe covering their eyes. The main typography has a display style of a graffiti and the secondary typography used for longer texts also has a handwritten style. Collages are intervened with digital illustration to create a modern yet powerful and interesting style. The entire project is meant to look like a street art project which you could eventually see on every wall in Mexico City. This was decided to make it relatable for Mexicans regardless of their age, gender, social status or educational background. Since most people in Mexico don’t have access to basic education, La Historiadora was taken into the streets. This way we made sure it would reach out to everyone and people started talking about women who made history. We are giving little girls a chance to realize they can make history happen too. Welcome to La Historiadora, the new side of history.
