Self-initiated project. Lace, shapes and landscapes takes place in Malham cove. This location was selected because it offers both a dark and dramatic landscape as well as a vast empty plains, emphesising themes of isolation and desertion of the subjects. The lace over the face is used to conceal identity, linking to religious ideals of virginity and marriage that have been prominent throughout female history. Rigid awkward posing and vacant expressions were used to move against the landscape with hope that the viewer will notice something subtly disjointed with the environment. This can be directly linked to how it can feel as a women to move against society’s expectations. As well as these static directed poses. Natural hair and makeup plays into the concept of innocence and vulnerability along with the chosen garments white garments.
