Dignity in Dying are a UK nationwide organisation campaigning for individuals to have greater choice and more control over end-of-life decisions, and therefore alleviate any suffering towards the end of their life. In autumn 2021, a research study was published that explored the impact of current laws in the UK on individuals facing the end of life. The study unveils narratives from individuals who found themselves compelled to take matters into their own hands due to no alternative options. This powerful report was read in parliament regarding the Assisted Dying Bill in October 2021, and aided the passing of the bill unopposed.
