Lea Balducci Lab

Lea Balducci Lab results in a collection of sustainable experiences and experimentation which explore the notion of process of making. Investigating the idea of the ephemeral, I created objects that decay over time by growing my own crystals and materials. It is inspired by looking at crystals and rocks and their own process of creation and transformation. Also, I collect recycled materials that were mass-produced; in particular aluminium cans and plastics packaging and work on them by using handmade and technological techniques. Combining and transforming theses materials or growing my own, I create textured surfaces and shapes, giving them a second life. Cutting techniques allow me transform plastics packaging in new beautiful object that can shape shifting. With screen printing techniques, I applied 3 dimensional patterns and textures to material that were usually flat with no textures. This creation of tactile and interactive surfaces allows people to reconnect with the sense of touch which disappear in our digital world now days.
