Let's Collaborate for Creativity

  • Nick Corston

I co-founded and now run a non-profit called STEAM Co. We are about Art. We say that 'Art is what we call it when what we do might connect us' Art is the killer combination of Creativity, tech (think tools - paint, cardboard or code) and People. Creativity is what makes us human. It inspires kids in their learning, powers economies and connects communities. Who doesn't want some of that? But it's at risk in our schools. The Number One TED talk is by a bloke called Sir Ken Robinson on How Shcools Can Teach Creativity out of Kids. Yet he has been called a 'butcher given a ticker tape parade by the National Union of Pigs' by a government Tsar in the The Times Ed Supplement. Not very nice is it? A prominent Edu Tweeter with 20k followers had an avatar that said that 'Creativity is for People with glasses who lie'. Is that you? We risk a #CreativityCrisis and call on Creative People and Companies, not to reinvent the wheel, but to #CollaborateForCreativity with us. Here's a blog about how we feel Boris Johnson's right hand man Dominic Cummings is behind all of the above, since he was at the Department of Education ten years ago. http://bit.ly/GruniadHope STEAM Co. is a community engagement model, built on creativity that will connect with everyone, from code hacking hipsters in Shoreditch to brickies in Brum and ship builders in Sunderland. We need to do this together. Are you with us?
