LFF 20/21 Photobook & Zine Live at Wembley 21

  • Alex Amorós

'LFF 20/21' was documented during the 2020 and 2021 football season. After the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the Premier League 2019 and 2020, the new season began with the stadium doors closed once again. The project captures 27 London Football fans and 11 stadiums from the 11 clubs in the City of London that have been part of the old First Division or Premier League (Arsenal FC, Brentford FC, Chelsea FC, Charlton Athletic FC, Crystal Palace FC, Fulham FC, Leyton Orient FC, Millwall FC, Queens Park Rangers FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC & West Ham United FC). The 140 page book also includes a free 72 page fanzine titled 'Live at Wembley 21'. Live at Wembley 21 is a collection of photos taken at both the semi-finals and final of the Euros at Wembley. This zine shows the contradiction between the empty stadiums of LFF 20/21 to one of the biggest events that can happen in the world of football, a semifinal and final of a Euro, all in the same city of London. It is interesting to see the contrast between the early empty and silent stadiums to the later occupied ones, which once again buzz with anticipation. Wembley was the first large-scale event after the pandemic and I wanted to document the explosion of emotions. The project has been shot on film to invoke feelings of nostalgia from a bygone era and it is my belief that film is the only medium that can truly capture the raw passion of the 12th Man, the crowd. The spirit of Football lies in the fact that it is for everyone. 5% of our profits proudly go to the Cruyff Foundation, who support and develop impactful sports projects for children with special needs, by setting up outdoor sports facilities in deprived areas and social sports programs.
