Life through a lens

  • Mischa Gatti
During a recent adventure across the Eurasian continent I started an Instagram account to document the wonderful people and places that make our world spectacular. Through a documentary style approach to photo making, I attempted to capture everyday life, bringing the viewer an insight into the life and history of another culture.
Starting in Moscow with my partner, we took the Trans-siberian train through Russia, Mongolia and into China, stopping off along the way. From Beijing we worked our way down to Hong Kong, taking our time to soak up the natural beauty of the countryside and rawness of the urban environment. From there, we moved through Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand before returning home, six months after our train pulled out from the platform in Moscow.
We chose to attempt this trip without using airplanes, opting instead for trains and the occasional coach where there was no rail network, giving ourselves more time to experience the journey itself.
