Life Under the Sea

  • Claire Flower

Whilst we are starting to become more aware of our own actions that are impacting our future world, this is the perfect time to reflect and celebrate the exquisite creatures we still have in our seas today. With over seven million tons of plastic winding up in the ocean each year, it’s inevitable that a lot of it winds up as part of an unwelcome addition to a fish’s diet. (ROSSEN, J.B (June 8th, 2017). Coral reefs and marine species are some of the most biodiverse and productive ecosystems on earth, however they are also under massive threat through pollution, climate change and careless tourisms. With over 72% of the Earth’s surface covered by saltwater, the Earth’s oceans are home to 230,000 known species. (Alec 2013/2016) That been said I designed a collection with the purpose to celebrate and capture the beautiful life we have under our seas, focusing on the vibrant colours .The Angle and Unicorn fish have been my main inspiration throughout this collection and have greatly inspired me to create some eye catching one off pieces.
