Polly Nor’s exhibition ‘Airing my dirty laundry’ was my original inspiration for my collection and continues to be the mainstay for my ideas and work moving forwards. The message in her work appeals to me for as a young woman myself who is facing a lot of the trials in life that she highlights and brings to the forefront of your mind when you look at her work she has naturally resonated with me and continues to inspire me with my collection by looking at women and their 21st century demons regarding insecurities with body image, expectations in society and how we are slaves to social media and the pressures it brings. Shedding skin, starting again, blank canvas, feeling empty are all symbolic of a woman wearing the skin coloured Morph suit and so this has become my foundation for design. Originally I concentrated on designs in skin tones but since have developed my ideas to include my own prints of snakeskin, as it felt a natural progression for shedding skin and starting again with a blank canvas. I have also added fake nails to gloved hands and fake hair to my collection since original ideas were created, forever morphing my designs into something new!
