Like everyone else in the UK, my community and neighbourhood became very important to me during the global pandemic.
Suddenly, I relied on my corner shop, local pharmacy and green spaces so much more. The gym down the road provided outdoor sessions which honestly kept me sane during this time.
This experience refocused my opinions on how important community is. Having key services and amenities on my doorstep meant I was able to live a much more sustainable lifestyle during the pandemic.
However, it occurred to me that not all neighbourhoods have as many amenities or services as mine. I wondered how we could assess this and improve them. A tool giving insights in this area could help professionals make more informed decisions on improving and regenerating local areas. This was the start of Liveable Neighbourhoods.
Liveable Neighbourhoods is a web-based application that analyses gaps in services and amenities within a 15 min walk or short cycle.
The Liveable Neighbourhoods tool has potential to help build better communities and support local businesses, growing the local economy and enabling more sustainable lifestyles. In turn, this will contribute to us all reaching NetZero targets.
For the next development stage we’d love to chat with key members of companies, local government, authorities and councils responsible for neighbourhood regeneration and improvements – anyone our application could assist in their jobs – to gain further understanding of their needs and fine-tune the final stages of development.
