Locomocean Product & Packaging Design

Neon and general lighting and gift product designs, with complementary packaging. Stocked in high street stores such as Oliver Bonas, Urban Outfitters & New Look. PRODUCT & TREND RESEARCHING To carry out trend research and forecasting I would use tools such as WGSN as well as visiting trade shows such as Top Drawer in London, Maison & Objet in Paris and HKTDC in Hong Kong. I would then use my findings to design artwork for new product ranges that were on brand and within the lighting and novelty gifting market. These designs would star t out as hand drawn artwork and handwriting. I would then translate into working drawings, bearing in mine the material and manufacturing limitations. These drawings would be completed with measurements and product specs, communicated clearly for use in overseas factories. I travelled to China frequently to visit the factories and learn what their capabilities and newest product offerings were. This knowledge was also used for the B2B side of the business, for part of which I would assist high street retailers such as Urban Outfitters, New Look & River Island to develop white label products within the same market, using their own branding. I would work with them to brainstorm new ideas, develop and produce artwork for the products themselves as well as the packaging. PACKAGING DESIGN & ARTWORKING I created nets and artwork from scratch for new product ranges, whilst adhering to brand guidelines and ensuring consistency with existing packaging. I would also artwork existing packaging designs, to alter information and colour ways for new items within existing product ranges. A selection of packaging was printed using Pantone, so selecting and setting up spot colours from colour books was also needed.
