  • Qiong Wu
Every fairy tale got a dark history, so does children's Rhymes. I select two children’s playground rhymes originally based on City of London. I invite symbols, mythology, death and execution, medieval manuscript into my two scrolls.
'Oranges and Lemons' is a traditional English children's arch game refers to the bells of several churches, all within or close to the City of London. As the bells ringing, the prisoner’s head has been cut down during the public executions. While in the game when children singing the final lines: ‘Here comes a candle to light you to bed. Here comes a chopper to chop off your head.’ the children forming the arch drop their arms to catch the pair of children currently passing through, who then be out of the game.
Wellcome to the game of dark.
