Look 2 - THOMAS CHILD GRAD COLLECTIONN

CORPOREAL ARCHITECTURE is a collection inspired by looking at the similarity between (gothic) architecture and the human body. Architecture and the human body are both structures which contain life. Architecture is concerned with creating a space with consideration of how those inside it interact with it and how the building itself interacts with its surroundings. My focus was how tailoring or truly crafted garments are made in the same way. We construct these garments with consideration of how it encases the wearers body and how it functions in their life. Gothic cathedrals were built with innovative construction techniques to allow for much taller & grander ceilings, this allowed for more light to enter and create a ‘heavenly’ or ethereal experience for those inside. My aim was to contextualise this concept within classic bespoke tailoring to create contemporary high-fashion.
