LSHTM Prospectus

Based in the heart of London and voted the world's number one research-focused graduate school in 2013, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) offers postgraduate courses in public and global health across a range of disciplines.

With so many disciplines and courses on offer it was hard to sum up the breadth of LSHTM's work with one cover design. So we decided to create three, each one looking at a different area of research. This meant the prospectus could be tailored for individual students with no additional printing cost.

LSHTM's previous prospectus lacked structure and it was difficult to tell where one section ended and the other one started. We used colour as a wayfinding device – applied to the folios, typestyles and as block panels – to make it easier for students to navigate the prospectus.

More LSHTM students come from overseas than the UK and many of them are already medical professionals. Often when they graduate they go back to improve healthcare in their own countries. As a result we wanted to shout about the positive effects of LSHTM's work, rather than focusing on the student experience or academic achievements. Each section start has a full spread image which illustrates a certain aspect of LSHTM's research, from nutrition in South Asia to vaccinations in Africa.

Since designing the prospectus we've built up a strong working relationship with LSHTM, helping them to produce a range of other materials including their Annual Report.
