Map of Arts University Bournemouth
For this project I worked with three other Graphic Designers, we were tasked with mapping and looking at the Arts University Bournemouth through the use of data.
Brief
This brief was to create a map of the university through the use of finding systems such as colour, behavior, sound etc. This project was a way of seeing the university differently and thinking of other ways to represent data. This was a group project with three other Graphic Designers.
Solution
We found that the solution to this brief was to look at the university through colour. We collected colour data from all around the university; each building had a unique swatch of colours. We looked further into the data and thought about what is within the university; looking at which rooms the Graphic Design students use most
Outcome
We decided to make cubes representing different buildings in the university. We varied the sizes depending on which rooms the Graphic Design students use most. On each cube we used the colour swatches we had collected. As a coding system we created posters explaining which building matched which colour swatch. Our critique suggested that our design was aesthetically pleasing and that the colour swatches were effective.
