Marina Abramović Presents

3-19 July 2009 The Whitworth, Manchester

Marina Abramović brought a specially curated group of international artists specialising in long durational work to MIF09 for a life-altering four hours of live art. Kitted out in lab coats, the audience was taken through a communal drill by Abramović before being left to wander the Whitworth and experience performances over several hours.
This thrilling, provocative event brought visitors from around the world to see work ranging from Kira O’Reilly’s balletic, slow-motion tumble down the gallery’s stairs to Ivan Civic’s daredevil display of athleticism and national identity. The project also featured contributions from Nikhil Chopra, Amanda Coogan, Marie Cool, Fabio Balducci, Yingmei Duan, Eunhye Hwang, Jamie Isenstein, Terence Koh,Alastair MacLennan, Fedor Pavlov-Andreevich, Melati Suryodarmo and Nico Vascellari.

‘An extraordinary collaboration. An exhausting but exhilarating afternoon’ The Daily Telegraph
