Market Memories

  • Lara Zade Akinnawo

I co-produced and directed a short documentary about local communities for Media Trust in conjunction with Film London, and London Screen Archives (2015).

Capturing the essence of a fading London relic, Market Memories shines a light on the livelihoods of two 'fruit & veg' stallholders in Edmonton, as they share their memories of the past, and how things have changed. Issues of immigration, globalisation, community diversity and integration come into play as Vicky and Charlie take us on a journey through their family's 100 year history as street market venders in Leeds Street, Edmonton.
This documentary uses archival footage from London Screen Archives, as well as archival photographs from the participants of the film.
Co-produced, filmmed and edited with Kai Williams and Royston Heath.
