BRIEF: To design a series of student friendly role guides for Anthony Nolan's university based Marrow groups. Setting out the details and importance of the specific role within the university society. CLIENT: Marrow is Anthony Nolan's fantastic network of student groups, which are based up and down the UK, who work in their universities and beyond to do one thing – save the lives of people with blood cancer. The first Marrow group was set up in 1998 by Nottingham University student James Kustow, to help find a bone marrow donor for his childhood friend Karen who had just been diagnosed with leukaemia. Since then, more than 50 groups with hundreds of volunteers have been established in universities across the UK, and we’re still growing… OUTCOME: A collection of 7 role guides, that will sit together in a printed format as well as an online resource. The usage of big bold icons, allowing the user to easily recognise what the specific guide is about, which was informed by research on e-books in digital libraries and connotations of icon usage.
