Martianism

  • Max Wilkins

A comprehensive, digital learning resource for college-level students to read and learn about Martian poetry.

Martianism is a specific genre of poetry, which involves using peculiar metaphors and making comparisons where they have never been made before. Like most poems, their meanings are left up interpretation; the backgrounds on each page are images (taken from possible explanations of featured poems) blurred beyond recognition, to conceal any detail and understanding.
The file is intended to be sent over to students from lecturers as part of a English language module, and can be read digitally or printed out. The file size was intentionally kept small, so that the document could be sent out easily via email; but I wanted to be sure there was enough good content featured.
Inspired by a friend who was having difficulty working through sections of her course, because of a lack of similar resources she was relying on, whilst working from home due to COVID-19. I would be interested in producing more, similar resources; and in my spare time, I have been thinking of more subjects to work on in a similar manner.
