Mary Katrantzou

Selfridges, London

To launch the latest Mary Katrantzou collection at Selfridges, FormRoom were invited to collaborate with Studiofibre, to manufacture and install a unique space within the Designer Galleries.

Working with the Mary Katrantzou and Studiofibre ‘garden oasis’ concept, the pop-up draws inspiration from the “Creatures & Creations,” exhibition at Wadeson Manor to which displayed the brands’ three spectacular couture dresses.
Exuding imagination and artistic presentation, a bespoke wire framed bird cage was built to encapsulate a mannequin as a sculptured focal point in the store. Surrounded by intricate hand-crafted birds, each unique in pose and colour, displayed mid-flight or perching on the pampas grasses.
Bespoke faux marble plinths present each mannequin as statuesque fashion displays within an ornate garden. Crafted from MDF sheets in the FormRoom workshop, each plinth has been meticulously painted by hand to replicate the luxurious marble finish. Engraved golden plaques, infilled with contrast colour on the Mary Katrantzou branding completed the installations.
FormRoom built three bespoke, large scale fabric panels to use the Selfridges wall space to maximum visual effect. Each panel has been upholstered in authentic Mary Katrantzou peacock fabric at our FormRoom workshop. To preserve the integrity of the fabric, FormRoom developed signage that was fastened to the panels using a combination of tailor’s pins and Velcro to secure in place over the duration of the pop up.
