“Mediated form” is a short print publication that reflects personal research into the subject of digital photography. A collection of smartphone photographs paired with excerpts on the subject of photography and digital environments in order to construct a narrative on the contemporary meaning of “low quality” images. The aim of the project is to suggest new reading of digital photographs by endowing them with the tactile qualities of printed matter. Not only can online photographs be examined for unique aesthetic qualities linked to their digital form, but also for the communicative functions in private social practices and wider public contexts. The project focuses on unrefined, imperfect and “amateur” imagery in order to celebrate it as a culturally relevant and valid mode of expression. (2023)
