We’re thrilled to announce the winner of the Coats X The RSC ‘Stage To Catwalk’ Graduate Fashion Foundation Competition!
Open to all final year Class of 2020 students, the judges were hugely impressed by the research, designs and mood boards submitted.
Kristina Sogaard, a Cardiff School of Art & Design graduate, won over the judging panel with her The Tempest inspired submission! Winning a prize of £250.
Hilary Alexander OBE, President of Graduate Fashion Foundation and competition judge said of the winning submission, “An exceptionally good mood board; research based on RSC productions of The Tempest in both 1946 and 2016, with reference to contemporary designers such as McQueen, who often referenced Elizabethan themes. Hence, the emphasis on the cuffs, collar and corsets. The concept for the design focusses on the other-worldy, fairy-tale, and magical themes of the play.”
