Metamorphoses- Illustrations

A series of works which begun with detailed microscopic studies of the natural world which surrounds us, i.e. rock formations along the English coast, tree bark, and other textures...Through the medium of creating intricate marks on paper using fine liner pen and watercolour, I attempt to record my perception of the world around me and then let the drawing/ painting evolve to take its own organic form. In some pieces I have used a combination of traditional hand drawing with contemporary digital manipulation to create hybrid works of art/ print and detailed patterns. The works are an observational expression, but also an attempt to visualise the intangible intricacies of our individual selves; our thoughts, emotions, experiences, and stories through the medium of creating intricate marks on paper to realise organic 'emotion-full' patterns.
