This is a story which will be told primarily through sound and visuals, rather than relying too heavily on dialogue. Mia’s World departs from the realm of language to tap into a deeper feeling of unease which governs our protagonist’s life. The visuals will be minimalistic yet disquieting, with an emphasis on the shadows and half-light in Mia’s room, suggesting that her true anxieties are not revealing themselves to her in their entirety. My inspiration is derived from many places in constructing this narrative and its visuals -- from the films of Roman Polanski, to David Lynch, to the writings of Sigmund Freud.
