‘Real sick, brawl nights, I perform like Mike, anyone, Tyson, Jordan, Jackson’ - The Notorious B.I.G ‘Psycho, I’m liable to go Michael, take your pick, Jackson, Tyson, Jordan, game 6’ - Kanye West & Jay-Z ‘The Mike Jordan or rap, the Mike Jackson or pop, the Mike Tyson of the street, Airs with no socks’ - Jay-Z This project was based around songs where three Michael’s were commonly mentioned and the fact that’s also my name. Pretty basic. This was a strong enough link to produce a set of illustrations, since starting these illustrations the Jackson documentary was reasoned condemning the singer and in no way do these illustrations support his (or any other of these Michael’s) personal life. The project itself was about sharing a name with these men who at one point were all seen as the ‘greatest’ perhaps Jordan is the only one who can maintain this accolade. Anyway more work I’ve produced in the last year in a new style which continues to develop, this was a exploration in form and using highlights, shadows and tonal qualities to build up an composition.
