Born in Japan to a family of fashion designers, Michiko Koshino moved to London in the 1970s to start her own fashion label. The brand she created has been going strong for nearly four decades, characterised by an edgy approach that brings Japanese innovation to Fashion Week catwalks. Over the years, Koshino has launched a variety of brands and introduced a range of inspirational styles that have influenced other parts of the fashion industry.
I have been asked by Michiko Koshino to revisit the visual identity assets and design the lookbooks for each collection since 2016. The 2017 Spring/Summer booklet is showcasing an extended women and men collection. To make sure the large collection could be embedded in a single booklet, I have proposed to display on one side the women and on the other side the men clothing selection, making the booklet reversible with a front cover for each of the sides. The purity of the shots required to create a simple and structural layout to bring in contrast and let the complexity of the photographed pieces standout. We have agreed to keep the same identity and layout for the following Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter 2017, 2018 and 2019 collections.
