MICROSCOPIC

Microscopic is a Spring/Summer 2021 collection for Dries Van Noten, inspired by microscopic cells. Print development is a large aspect of this collection, not only looking at microscopic patterns under a microscope but also the shapes of cell organelles. These shapes aid in developing silhouettes with the use of exaggerated ruffles and volume. Prints are mixed throughout, using different scales to provide interesting looks. Embroidery is also used to recreate these cell patterns. The collection uses mixtures of silks and cotton to create a mixture of drape and volume as well as including wool blends for more tailored aspects.
