MA Final Major Project. "Milan by Past and Present Women of Milan" was born out of a desire to go out and meet authentic Milanese from different walks of life. The book aims to tell a story about this Italian city through the eyes of these women, bringing the reader along for a journey from past to present in discovering the soul and history of the place. It is evident that through the stories of these women, a portrait of Milan emerges. Five chapter focus contemporary women and are based on interviews, while the remaining five tell the stories of women of the past, such as Maria Callas, Mariuccia Mandelli (aka Krizia) and famous architect Gave Aulenti, and their life in the city. At the end of each chapter there are travel guides; ten guides for ten neighbourhoods, with suggestions of restaurants, cafes, shops and museums.
