Mind Metamorphosis

  • Imogen Barber

By using an audio-visual experience and small incorporated tasks, Mind Metamorphosis will engage the task-positive network in the brain, an area used to calm and distract from anxious scenarios and provide a clearer image of the individuals suffering. The choices made by anxiety disorder sufferers throughout this experience will build a visual profile for the patient's practitioner to analyse and evaluate their anxiety in ways it cannot otherwise be communicated, resulting in a profile used to determine an individual's appropriate course of treatment. Alongside the main digital interaction, the work comprises two publications, The Survivor Stories, and The Therapist Guide. The first is a case study booklet for patients to read and reflect upon, aiding them to feel less alone. The second publication is constructed to provide the therapist with an understanding of the purpose and process of the experience, and how to best utilise it.
