Mix and Patch is a children's card game focused around growing your own fruit and vegetables. I designed the game for any child living in either a city or the countryside could grow some form of food. Using found objects around the house, this game would encourage them to reuse, recycle and repurpose scraps of food and their packaging. For example, you could regrow new carrots from the carrot tops and you could do this in a used plastic container all outside of your front door. The game is focused around the child collecting the correct cards to make their food grow, and understanding what happens at each stage. Mix and Patch encourages a small nudge that could make a big difference within households. Getting children interested in growing fruit and vegetables could see the new generation being far more self-sufficient than we are, is simply a step in the right direction towards a healthier and more sustainable planet.
