Mother

Mother was a project inspired by research surrounding the visual representation of motherhood, including the Feminist Avant-Garde of the 1970’s exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery. I aimed to address various concepts, sensitively, such as female bodily changes by manipulating the fabric to create stretch mark textures. Another notion I explored was the societal secrecy surrounding motherhood, which I addressed using objects that are rarely seen or discussed like breast pads, breast pump tubes and nipple covers.
