Movement & Restriction S/S18

  • Adam Pinter
The starting point of this project was the notion of capturing movement through the use of long exposure photography, which inevitably led me to explore its polar opposite, restriction. I was particularly interested in restricting the body through bondage and straitjackets. I wanted my design to communicate, both a sense of limitation and comfort. I was interested in creating a garment that is both free-flowing and rigid. Cumbersome but light. The oversized pants suggest free movement and a comfortable loose fit. The suede-like textile, while soft and velvety to the touch, it is heavy with a rigid drape. In contrast, the cotton shirt is breathable, light, but tight and limiting, with a cool and smooth touch.
