Museum Rebrand - Humans

  • manu secouet

The Mütter Museum in Philadelphia is America’s finest museum of medical history. Started by the pioneering and compassionate Dr Thomas Mütter in the 19th Century, it has always been a popular museum among medical students. This rebranding wants to open its remarkable and disturbing collection to a wider audience.

The new name is the essence of what the museum is - not just medical specimens - but each and every one of us. The aim is to take the empathy that Dr Mütter showed for people that were often regarded as monsters, and put it centre stage. After all, none of us is perfect. The graphics reflect that imperfection, using fractured words and images along with clashing colours. But there is also a wit and warmth in the designs that emphasises humanity.
