The site is the inevitable culmination of a protracted journey, one that is negotiated all the way along the River Leven right up until it finally spills out at Loch Lomond - our jumping off point. The project aims to celebrate this dramatic finale and to introduce a threshold between what has been and what is to come. All that comes before is suburban, and all that comes after is rugged and unfamiliar - the building simply provides the gateway. Drawing from extensive research into the therapeutic quality of music and its marriage with space, this design is primed to best facilitate and instil the reassurance of ownership, agency, and sanctuary that are so essential to our spatial experience. The aim here is to cultivate, nurture, and augment the already existing positive elements of landscape and to forge new dialogues between architecture and nature.
