This project is a response to my complicated relationship with the label "British Muslim" which I could be identified with by society, despite me being unreligious. In order to explore this relationship I adopted some conventions that a strict Muslim would live by in order to better understand their existing lifestyle challenges and analyse the effect on my current lifestyle as a student.
A badge can represent membership to a side or group and with this concept in mind I have used badges to represent the questions that arose during my journey exploring my cultural identity.
I choose this piece to exhibit at the New Blood Exhibition at the Old Truman Breward on Brooke Lane. The jacket was one of D&AD’s New Blood Team’s favourite picks.
