My Own Private Utopia

The aim of this project brief was to redesign a ‘Function Area’ that sits in the Barbican Garden Terrace. My job was to analyse the site and the surroundings, thinking of its character as a destination point and its connection to surrounding spaces. I transformed the space into something beautiful and I added a musical concept and kept the greenery to tie in with the Barbican!

Here are some images of how the Barbican bar looks at present. As you can see the space is pretty plain, empty and simple with not much thought to it.

Above is my 3D model after I’ve modelled everything from scratch using SketchUp.

Right across from the stage area is this luxury mini bar area, where people can enjoy the performances!

My mezzanine floor begins with a little stage area where musicians can perform. 

Here is the Terrace Level Floor. This is an image taken right at the entrance of the bar.
