I was hired as a Senior Designer (maternity cover) to work on the award-winning National Geographic Traveller (UK) magazine. Part of a large team of designers working on a variety of different projects, my main role was to lead the monthly sponsored supplements. Alongside this I assisted the Art Director and Senior Designer with creative design solutions for the magazine, having my own dedicated sections to commission and layout. This would involve future commissioning and chasing up of travel photographers and illustrators, working closely with the editorial team. During this time, I learnt basic HTML in Dreamweaver so that I could help create and edit the weekly digital email newsletters. The sales and marketing department also required design and production of newspaper inserts which were distributed throughout the team. I designed content that was seen in the Mail on Sunday and helped to drive up revenue within APL Media. During this time I was also part of the team that hosted a 'Masterclasses' event in London for aspiring travel photographers and writers.
