Manchester School of Art is part of Manchester Metropolitan University. The Textiles in Practice course enables students to experience textiles as a flexible and diverse subject at one of the oldest established textile courses in the UK, ranked 7th in the Complete University Guide for Art and Design 2020. Taught within pathways, the course offers you the opportunity to either specialise or combine the disciplines of print, weave, knit, embroidery and mixed media. Specialist workshop provision offers hands-on traditional machinery and the latest technologies, supported by expert academic and technical staff who are actively engaged in research and are professional designers and artists. Emphasis is placed on the development of personal interests and ambitions that reflect the breadth, versatility and potential of textiles within contemporary art and design contexts.
