New Formosa Records: Taiwan Music Exhibition
The name ‘Formosa’ means ‘beautiful island’ in Latin and Portuguese, and was also the name of Taiwan formerly. Taiwan is known as the centre of Mandarin popular music production. ‘New Formosa’ denotes the music creation of the younger generations – the music produced by Taiwanese independent artists. This exhibition will present these wonderful artists and introduce the dynamic Taiwanese music scene into London.
‘We now live in a post-mannerist age where everything seems available but little holds our attention.’ – Garth Cartwright
Now that the presence of record stores has become sparse, their existence is more unique. The six-day pop-up record exhibition will create an immersive experience for participants, inviting everyone into a space created to resemble a Taiwanese record store where you could explore and dig the wonderful pieces of music produced by Taiwanese artists in several formats including physical album, vinyl, music video.
