New Turban Meta Avatars

Over the last few months I’ve been working on a side project with the Avatars art team at META to create a new turban style that I don’t think I’ve ever seen represented in any create-a-character / avatar system before. I find the only turban being represented is a very traditional Sikh turban, which is great but being a British Sikh we often tie our turbans differently. I tie what is considered an African / British turban that is smaller in size to the traditional turbans of India. The importance of different communities / people / cultures being represented in our products and the power of feeling or being seen is being taken seriously by Meta. Working with the team, I sent references of my own turban and was able to get it created within our family of apps (WhatsApp, IG, FB and VR). The detail is great and officially went live on 11th December 2023!
