The Newshub brand is an hour long 6 o'clock news segment that runs on New Zealand's THREE channel. The brand was launched on 1st February 2016 to replace the old '3News' look & feel that had been running for many years. A large marketing push was made to raise public awareness of the coming rebrand.
One of the biggest pieces of marketing was the visual take over of Auckland's Britomart train station. The brief called for two large prints and a separate large design to be applied to the steps. While the large prints were quite standard to achieve, the steps were a unique challenge. The design had to have extra care paid to where each element of the visuals / typography sat on steps so as to not be cropped in strange ways or difficult to read at a glance as the public walks up them.
The design was up in Britomart Station for 8 weeks and contributed to the success of the overall marketing campaign, Newshub is now one of the leading news sources in New Zealand across TV, web & radio.
