Nick Ballon: Pugila

Last year, Nick Ballon embarked on a trip to the Puglia region of Italy for New York textiles company Maharam (@maharamstudio) to start working on their latest campaign, whlist collaborating with Alma (@almahaser). He set out to make photographs with the intent of capturing 'the incomplete' landscape. Often using sequences and patterns to build up an understanding of the Italian coastline looking for anomalies in these visual equations to photograph. Nick and Alma then worked together in the studio interpreting these photographs in print with Maharam fabrics, completing, reorganizing, and playing with the original landscape's fragmentations to create new structures that bent traditional definitions of composition and design.
